[New Additions]

  • New Weapon: Double Barrel Shotgun with a special ability to hook onto players.
  • New Weapon: Plasma SMG with a special ability to charge a Energy Blast when shooting or getting kills.
  • New Enhanced Chat Box with commands, emojis, system messages, and a scroll bar.
  • Map Shadows, add more depth to your map. Shadows are toggleable in the lobby settings, map options, and graphics options (player level).

[Quality of Life/Minor Changes]

  • Main Menu Music, In-Game Music, Sounds, and Ambience volumes can now be set independently.
  • Reworked the block set system. Block Sets are now set by the map with an optional lobby override setting.
  • Reworked a lot of the backend.
  • Optimized some parts of the game (Level terrain and more).
  • Redone block colors for “Default”, “Christmas”, “Alpha”, “Plastic”, “Pastel”, “Spring”, “Solid”, and “Halloween” block sets.
  • Controller support for opening chat box, typing and other functionality.
  • Added Graphics Presets to the Graphics Options Screen.
  • Spawning in is now instant in speedrun and map making mode! This will be great for speedrunners.

  • Updated and corrected fog colors for most skyboxes.

  • Murder royale death wall has been extended by 63 blocks, so it not longer cuts off at the map height.
  • The Miner Gun blaster now shows both the Miner Gun and explosion icon at the same time in the kill ticker.
  • Changed how the game loads animations, allowing animation files exported from Blender to work in game.
  • Fully re-written “How to Play” (now called “Murderpedia”), “Update History” (you’re looking at it right now!) and “Map Makers” screen, they are now much easier to use an the text is loaded from a text file for easy editing.
  • “Show Removed Players” debug option.
  • Map making clone names no longer have underscores in their names like older versions of the game.
  • Default block set has been changed in many ways, many block textures have been updated, blocks have been re ordered in the miner gun, many block colors have been tweaked and more.

  • The flag base now changes color to match the respective team in Murder the Flag.

  • New “Pass Through Blocks When Flying” map making lobby setting.

  • New experimental “Allow Full Rocket Rotation” controls setting.

  • Restored classic Xbox 360 “Turbo Fire” lobby setting and renamed the post Xbox One version to “Fast”.

[Bug Fixes]

  • Fixed spit related bugs.
  • Fixed hitbox issue when players crouch in the air.
  • Fixed a rare bug where shields will appear non broken if shield value is between 0 and 1.
  • Fixed Many “How to Play” Menu UI issues.
  • Fixed Split Screen player overriding main player save.
  • Fixed controller icons on in-game scoreboard.
  • Map top down preview now correctly displays the current block set for Map Tools and Published Workshop Maps.

  • The game can no longer render a resolution over 4096 to fix a crash, this is an XNA limitation and does not happen with FNA builds or on mac or linux.
  • Fixed map object culling, all map objects cull by default now and do not render when off screen.
  • Portals now render correctly in split-screen.
  • Fixed bug causing the weapon select wheel to be drawn twice.
  • Corrected loading bar length.
  • Murder royale circle height now scales to new map heights.
  • The selected block set is now corrected when loading old pre update 40 maps.
  • Weapon models are now correctly hidden when using the shotgun camouflage ability.
  • Fixed issue with controller aim speed not being correctly loaded from the save file.
  • Steam avatars now correctly display after being downloaded, even after placeholder “missing” icon is displayed.
  • Fixed an issue causing the experimental aim assist to cause some users to be unable to look around.
  • Raised in game scoreboard text slightly to stop the icons being covered by the scoreboard.

  • Fully fixed helmet debug message from showing up when debug text is not enabled.

  • Fixed weapon models not being hidden when using shotgun camoflauge.
  • Fixed issue where player 1 will sometimes be unable to create and search for lobbies while using a controller while also using a mouse (happened often on steam deck).
  • Fixed splitscreen player overwriting player 1 save file when saving, splitscreen players now have their own save file for customization and controls.
  • Aspect ratio detection is now more accurate, should fix issues with ultrawide monitors and other oddly shaped screens.
  • A bug that caused invisible “fake” splitscreen players to be present in the lobby has been fixed, fixing a bug where fake splitscreen players win the game when all players have negative score.
  • Fixed issue where splitscreen player can sign out but not sign back in.
  • Fixed a bug causing the splitscreen player index (port number) to not show up in some areas of the menus such as the kill ticker.
  • Fixed all splitscreen player names showing as white for all players when playing splitscreen.
  • Fixed an issue when switching from fullscreen mode to windowed mode where the game window remains at the old fullscreen size even though the game updates to the new resolution.
  • Fixed caps lock not working in FNA builds.
  • Fixed a few minor crashes in FNA builds.
  • Fixed issue where changing graphics options didn’t trigger a save file update.
  • Fixed zombie ability disabled messages not being all caps.
  • Fixed “Blocks Destroyed As Zombie” stat incrementing for non infected players in infection games.
  • Fixed issue where the flag base and flag model stops rendering when viewed from certain angles.
  • Fixed issue where zombie eating animation can be canclled by spitting, wasting a level up.
  • Fixed bug that resulted in the murderbike acting like it was in the air when on a block thats at the map height limit (not allowing you to turn or hover).
  • Players going through a portal when riding a vehicle now see the portal screen tint effect.
  • Stopped players using different game versions from joining each other through invites and lobby join links as this ususally results in errors (Default branch player trying to join an Update 40 player for example).
  • Fixed the “Map Tools” menu crashing the game.
  • Fixed steam invites and lobby join links soft locking the game if the session has ended.
  • Fixed a soft lock when a lobby closes while you are joining it.
  • Fixed “Alpha Infector” achievement not checking for 6+ player requirement.
  • Fixed scoreboard not updating when getting ai zombie kills.
  • Fixed zombie tentacle ticker icons.
  • “Mode Changed” text no longer shows when it is not supposed to.
  • Sniper lasers are no longer rendered twice in split screen mode.
  • The Sniper now renders correctly in split screen.
  • Ramming will no longer be enabled / disabled automatically, it will now only change when loading a preset like other settings.
  • The flag model no longer stops rendering when part of it is off screen.
  • The flag base, sentry barrel, sentry base, and hookshot hook now look correct when inside fog.
  • Fixed issue with fog and screen overlay colors sometimes flicker for a frame.
  • Fixed incorrect “Game has ended” message when trying to join a lobby via an invite link when the game is not currently running.
  • Map options screen and “M” shortcut hotkey now checks if a map object is behind a block before opening the settings page for it.
  • Ramming will no longer be enabled / disabled automatically, it will now only change when loading a preset like other settings.
  • Scoreboard will now properly calculate the K/D ratio for players that get 0 deaths in a game.
  • A map object is not only sent if it has been changed by the host, instead of sending data for all objects in the map. This will massively reduce the stutters when the host edits a map object.
  • Fixed fog color values not resetting back to default when exiting to the main menu.
  • Fixed credits menu music not muting normal menu music.
  • Fixed block set not visually updating when loading a map that uses a different block set.
  • Fixed Present helmet unlock stat incrementing instead of the “Sentry Kills” stat in some situations.
  • Fixed OP Sniper weapon wheel offsets, it now matches the normal sniper when shown in the weapon wheel.
  • Fixed the Hookshot icon showing in the kill feed when a zombie gets a melee kill with the tentacle equipped, it now only shows up when killing with the tentacle itself.
  • Fixed occasional 1 frame stutters.
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong player id (splitscreen) is used when clicking on menu entrys and using the chat.
  • Fixed some message popups saying “YES” instead of “OK”.

[Known Bugs]

  • Sniper lasers may be the wrong color in team modes when playing in split screen.
  • Sentry textures are currently using a placeholder texture while the new weapon skin menu is being worked on.
  • The last Explosive block to blow up as a result of a chain reaction will act like it is still solid even after exploding.
  • If 2 players destroy an explosive block at the same time, the explosion from one of the blocks can sometimes appear at the other.
  • Sentry is able to attatch to bullet passthrough block.
  • If “Save Map” is selected on controller, you will be unable to type in the prompt box.
  • Existing map objects sometimes don’t appear when joining a game in progress, anything spawned or moved after the player joins will work as normal.
